Our Story

Jan escaped small-town life in Missouri when she moved to Florida after college.  Her heart is happiest when her toes are curled in the sand and waves are lapping in the background.  She doesn't relate well to people not obsessed with dogs.  She’s a CPA and enjoys photography in her free time.

Yemi moved to NYC from Nigeria. As a true wanderlust his passport has never been left in one place long enough to gather dust. He knows most of the hidden gems in Manhattan. Yemi is a legitimate foodie, constantly in search of food flavorful and so spicy it makes his eyes water. He currently works in Finance and loves road cycling in his free time.

Realizing the Dream

It all began as we were driving through New Jersey in I-80W in route to Jan's small hometown in Missouri for Christmas 2011.  Two friends of ours had just left on a round-the-world (RTW) trip and Yemi was jealous inspired.  They would be the second couple of friends that we know to have done it. He'd always dreamed of taking a trip like this but figured it was too late since he was now finished with school and climbing the corporate ladder like a rock star.


"We should take a RTW trip," he said.

Jan's stomach immediately knotted up and she bit her tongue as she tried to silence her 3,498 reasons why that was a silly idea. Over the next several months, we talked in depth about what we wanted out of life, where our careers were going and how this dream fit into those plans.  Jan read a lot of RTW blogs and a funny thing happened - it became her dream, too.  Ultimately, we knew we had to make it happen.

The Plan


Before settling down, we are fulfilling our dreams of traveling the world.  We saved every dime possible, got married, quit our cushy corporate jobs & are traveling the world on the honeymoon of a lifetime.
